The 30,000 entries for Entel Maratón de Santiago 2017 are filled

This year there will be 2,000 more runners than in the previous version

One month away from the starting line of the biggest Sporting Party in Chile, the 30,000 entries set up for the Entel Maratón de Santiago 2017 were filled, showing that our country is within the global trend of having every year more runners in the different distances.

The 13,000 entries for the 21K race where the first to be filled, in the middle of February. Two weeks later the same happened for 10K and 42K.

“We are quite anxious for the race day to be here and live once again the biggest sporting party in Chile” said Felipe Salas, spokesman for the Entel Maratón de Santiago 2017.

“Congratulations to all entries and all the energy for the training still to be done in March. To those that could not get their entries, we invite you all to go to the streets, support the runners and be a part of the Entel Maratón de Santiago, which belongs to us all and is a great international example. Thousands are excited, and that is a very important emotional shot that us runners value a lot… come on Santiago, EVERYBODY goes running”.

Of the 30,000 entries, there are 6,132 in the marathon distance, 13,000 in half marathon and 10,868 in 10K. Of them all, 64% is men, while 36% is women.

On the other half, there is an outstanding increase of entries from the five continents. In 2016 there were almost 3,200, and this time the foreign entries are 4,210. The countries with most participants are Brazil (2,371), Argentina (788), Venezuela (315), Peru (173) and Spain (144).

Among the novelties in the eMDS2017 there is the Blue Line, which will mark the 42,195 meters of the marathon with exactitude. It will also be the last professional race of the national multiple record holder Érika Olivera, who will close in Chile her successful international career. She will also actively participate in the awards ceremony, where a trophy with her name will be presented for the Chilean winners of the 42K.

As in previous years, other initiatives will also be present, like the Plan of Canine Protection, Corro por Ti (I Run For You) and the Solidary Relay. During the following days new announcements about eMDS will be done: shirt, Expo Running, etc.
